James Ray are recruiting for a Hull based communication services provider who require an experienced Paralegal to assist with Procurement contracts. Working within the Legal team you will be responsible for assisting the implementation of their new transformation project. This includes the provision of a new document management system for the legal function and performing reviews of standard terms and conditions presented by 3rd party suppliers via the company’s Procurement and IT functions.

The role is for an initial 3 months with the possibility of an extension.

Key Duties:

  • Locating, Managing and Advising on Procurement contracts and other contractual matters
  • Delivering a new document management system for the Legal function
  • Liaising with stakeholders to identify current contract repositories
  • Organising the collation of documentation held in current contract repositories
  • Liaising with stakeholders in the development of a new document management system and guidance notes for stakeholders
  • Protecting files, obtaining approvals and saving contracts to the new document management system
  • Working with the Legal, Procurement and IT teams in managing the review of standard terms and conditions
  • Flagging risks to the business on matters like limitation of liability and termination rights
  • Being the first point of contact in Legal for the Procurement and IT teams where standard supplier and software terms are concerned
  • Where such contracts are negotiable, assisting the Legal team with proposed amendments to such contracts
  • There will also be scope to assist the Legal team with legal research tasks and fulfilling the day-to-day ‘business as usual’ queries from stakeholders

 

The candidate:

  • Experienced paralegal
  • Ideally 1-2 years experience in contract/commercial law
  • Experience reviewing legal documents is essential
  • Experience with procurement terms in particular would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • An ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • An ability to meet deadlines efficiently and to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues at every stage
  • A strong desire to develop a career with an ambitious firm providing a high-quality service to meet and exceed its client requirements
  • A high level of IT awareness, must be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office Packages
