James Ray Recruitment are delighted to be working with an independent firm of Chartered Accountants based in Cottingham. They offer a variety of accounting services for small-medium sized businesses and sole-traders. They are modern and forward-thinking, and pride themselves on being a friendly and approachable team. Our Client has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Administrator/Accounts Assistant to join their team to lead and develop the payroll service.

They are Keen to hear from individuals working in a similar role and looking for a new challenge or equally those with some payroll experience and now seeking career progression and greater responsibilities.

Key Duties:

  • You will coordinate and perform all elements of payroll work, as well as supervising the work of junior team members.
  • Payroll experience is essential and ideally some of this gained in an accountancy practice.
  • Proficiency in using software such as BrightPay, Capium, Sage Payroll or Moneysoft is also required.
  • Applications are welcomed from individuals that are qualified by experience, or qualified to, or currently studying, AAT, ICAEW, ACCA or CIPP. Financial support and mentoring for further study will be offered for those wishing to do so and will be discussed at interview.
  • As part of the payroll service we also carry out and advise clients on auto-enrolment and pension regulator reviews and submissions, therefore experience in this area would be an advantage, however training will be provided.
  • This role also involves managing CIS return submissions, and some understanding of this would be preferred though not essential. There will also be opportunities for the Payroll Administrator/Accounts Assistant to work in other areas such as Annual Accounts, VAT and Personal Tax if desired.
