James Ray Recruitment is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) for an exciting opportunity in the York area.

The successful candidate will teach French for the first term in KS3 and some Key Stage 4 within a well-regarded secondary school. We are looking for a dedicated educator fluent in one or more foreign languages.

This is a full time position, and the successful applicant will be able to teach across key stages to students of all abilities, demonstrating a proven track record of securing outstanding student outcomes. We welcome applications from both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers who wish to broaden their experience in a dynamic and innovative department.

Key Duties:

  • Plan and teach lessons and sequences of lessons to the class(es) you are assigned to teach within the context of the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work in order to achieve target levels for pupils’ attainment, progress and outcomes;
  • Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress, and achievements of students.
  • Work with others on curriculum and/or pupil development to secure coordinated outcomes.
  • Participate in arrangements for the appraisal and review of your own performance and, where appropriate, that of other teachers and support staff.
  • Communicate with pupils, parents and carers in accordance with the school ethos, policies.
  • Collaborate and work with colleagues and other relevant professionals within and beyond the school.
  • Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
  • Promote the safety and well-being of pupils in accordance with the school’s Child Protection and other relevant policies. Maintain good order and discipline among pupils in accordance with the school behaviour policy.

 

Who is the ideal candidate? 

  • Have experience teaching Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
  • Hold a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be actively working towards achieving QTS.
  • Have a genuine desire to become an integral part of the MFL Department.
  • Demonstrate expertise in lesson planning, evaluating, and adjusting lessons/work plans/schemes of work as appropriate to meet student needs.
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Holds an enhanced DBS registered on the update service or will to get one
