Job Description:

James Ray Recruitment are working with a Law Firm in London who require an experienced Costs Drafts person to join their specialist Legal Cost team.

The Candidate:

be a qualified costs lawyer or have a law degree, LPC and/or CILEX qualifications;
have strong verbal and written communication skills;
be hard working with good analytical and organisational skills to manage and prioritise a busy workload;
be comfortable working to deadlines and targets;
possess excellent IT skills particularly in relation to using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word;
have some relevant legal experience gained within a Costs team and previous experience as a Costs Lawyer will be highly advantageous, but not essential).

Key Duties:

  • Managing a portfolio of costs files collectively with your team-members and conducting all aspects of advocacy, including CCMCs, interim applications, detailed assessments and appeals;
  • Drafting bills of costs, replying to points of dispute, and preparing costs budgets;
  • Internal training and reviewing the ongoing costs management process.
  • Communicating with internal teams, barristers and opponents;
  • Preparing written submissions justifying legal costs
