James Ray Recruitment are delighted to be working with an established business based in East Riding.

Our clients are looking to recruit a HSSEQ Manager who will have prime responsibility of ensuring the safe operation, an efficient Safety Management System and compliance with the ISM, ISPS and all other standards adopted by the company in relation to HSSEQ.

Key Duties:

Responsibilities of the Health & Safety Manager:

The role of the Health & Safety Manager will be to render support and give professional advice as part of the Operations team to the General Manager, Senior Management Team and employees overseeing the development and implementation of management systems and tools supporting improvements with regards to HSSEQ performance and best business practises.

Main Duties

  • Ensure proper and timely planning and arranging of internal audits of the Management System to assess compliance with ISM, ISPS, and subsequent ISO standards.
  • The maintenance and responsibility of the company Safety Management System to ensure it is compliant with the IMS code & company specific practices.
  • Procedures/forms/structure created where necessary and reviewed as part of a continuous improvement process.
  • Demonstrate sound risk management practices and ensure that these are well known to all relevant personnel and external partners and operators.
  • Work closely with the Operational Team member ensuring the safe operation, quality management and HSSEQ procedural changes.
  • Establish HSSEQ KPI’s and benchmarks for operational performance and demonstrate continual improvement through continued measurements.
  • Maintain performance of leading KPIs within safety, quality, security and performance.
  • Act as the HSSEQ focal point for coordination and drive between the sites to ensure ever improving HSSEQ performance in the company.
  • Support Commercial in the preparation of Quality and Safety procedures, practices and project specific HSSEQ Plans for existing business and new business. Site safety assessments and tender input.
  • Identify and report on Quality and Safety related areas for improvement to the Management Team.
  • Manage internal investigators and ensure potential and high severity incidents are formally investigated, root causes identified and mitigations in place to protect personnel, third parties and the company.
  • Ensure the Annual Management Review is conducted and continuous improvement in the management system and processes are documented and cascaded within the business.
  • Collate the monthly and annual statistics, and report into the Senior Stakeholders.
  • Authority to intervene in any HSSEQ matter where danger to life, safety, security or environment exists.
  • Issue safety alerts and conduct group safety meetings.
  • Attend external HSSEQ and Operational meetings as required to perform your role and be the safety ambassador of the company.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Formal qualification in HSSEQ such as NEBOSH, IOSSH, Diploma
  • Lead auditor in ISM, ISPS & ISO9001
  • IT literate with experience of using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative.
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information.
