James Ray Recruitment is working with a vibrant secondary school located in the market town of Selby, North Yorkshire. We are looking for a dedicated and inspiring English Teacher to join their skilled team. This is an excellent opportunity to motivate and engage students in a nurturing and vibrant educational setting.
Role Overview:
As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering creative and effective lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching A-Level depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have a deep love of literature and language and the ability to foster an enthusiasm for reading and writing in students. Both experienced and newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply.
This is a full-time role, with the school seeking a candidate to join from January 2025 for at least 6 weeks, with potential for extension based on the school’s needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
• Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive and timely feedback.
• Create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that supports students of varying abilities.
• Work collaboratively with the English department to develop resources and schemes of work.
• Support the personal development and well-being of students, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed.
• Contribute to school life through participation in extra-curricular activities, school events, and CPD opportunities.

Key Duties:

Key Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent) is essential.
  • A degree in English or a related subject is required.
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 (experience at A-Level is advantageous).
  • Enhanced DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to undergo this process.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to differentiate instruction effectively.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of students.
