James Ray Recruitment are working with GW power on an exciting new position within the business as a Business Development Director.
Focusing on driving growth and promoting end-to-end business solutions, with a special emphasis on decarbonisation services within the public sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and leading efforts to promote sustainable, low-carbon solutions to government bodies, public institutions, and other stakeholders.
The role requires a strong background in business development, an understanding of the decarbonisation agenda, and the ability to navigate public sector procurement processes. The Business Development Director will be a key ambassador for the companies, working collaboratively to secure high-impact projects that contribute to carbon reduction and energy efficiency goals.

Key Duties:

  • Lead and manage the business development strategy across both companies, focusing on selling integrated, end-to-end solutions within the public sector, with an emphasis on decarbonisation.
  • Identify and target new business opportunities in government agencies, local authorities, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and other public sector entities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key public sector decision-makers, stakeholders, and industry influencers to expand the companies’ networks and increase market penetration.
  • Promote and sell decarbonisation services, including energy efficiency improvements, renewable energy solutions, low-carbon technologies, and carbon offsetting strategies.
  • Lead the preparation of proposals, bids, and tenders for public sector contracts, ensuring alignment with client needs and company capabilities.
  • Provide expert guidance and consultancy to clients on decarbonisation strategies, ensuring that solutions are cost-effective, scalable, and aligned with current and future regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed on public sector policy, regulations, and decarbonisation trends to anticipate market needs and position the companies as thought leaders.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including technical, engineering, and operations, to ensure seamless delivery of solutions from design through to implementation.
  • Track and report on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities, providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in business development or sales leadership, ideally within the decarbonisation, energy, or sustainability sectors, with a focus on the public sector.
  • Strong understanding of decarbonisation technologies and strategies, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, low-carbon building solutions, and carbon management.
  • In-depth knowledge of public sector procurement processes, frameworks, and regulatory requirements related to sustainability and decarbonisation.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify market trends and translate them into business opportunities.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders.
