Job Description:

The role is based within a primary school in Pickering. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong background with SEN experience, who values the relationships they build with children. We are looking for someone with a love of learning who are committed to making a difference for children.

This is a full-time position covering on a long-term basis for the entire academic year and for the right person this role may continue into the next academic year. This role is to start in September 2024. This school requires you to hold a Teaching Assistant qualification, at level 2 or above. The day rate ranges from £85 – £95, this is dependent on experience.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Have great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be able to use own initiative as well as being able to work as part of a team.
  • Have a good understanding of the Key Stage you are working in.
  • Have the ability to take the initiative and adapt work to the child or situation.

  • Be committed to the school’s vision for all adults and children to be ‘working hard, aiming high’
  • Have the ability to work both in the classroom and out of the classroom.

Who is the ideal candidate?

  • Minimum 6 months experience working with SEN children.
  • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification, at level 2 or above.
  • Relevant experience working with young people aged 4 -16 years.
  • Enthusiastic and ability to adapt to difficult situations.
  • Calm, resilient and able to communicate well with young people.
  • Confident in your behaviour management skills
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
